Enhanced SharePoint Blog Edition
I’m pleased to report that the project to develop an enhanced blog edition for SharePoint is now underway. We had our first meeting this morning and it looks like this will be a great project to be involved in. On the feature list are items such as tag clouds, trackbacks, pingbacks, CAPTCHA integration, and some great looking master pages.
The goal of the project is to make blogs on SharePoint as pervasive as other blog platforms. This doesn’t mean it will have the same feature set but it will provide all the usual tools for typical bloggers, and provide an extensible platform for further enhancement (something WSS 3.0 does very well). As I’m taking on the master page customisation one of my goals is to create a clean CSS driven design that will allow people to easily change the look and feel of the site. This is something that is definitely lacking with the existing blog sites, as the heavy use of tables and lack of documentation on styles often means a lot of painstaking work getting things to look exactly as you want. If you are reading this on my site you will notice I have started to customise my own blog, and as this project goes on I’ll post my learning’s in this process for those interested in doing the same.
If anyone has feature suggestions for the project feel free to leave a comment on the Community Kit for SharePoint (CKS) Enhanced Blog Edition page on Codeplex.
I have been trying to set up the Enhanced blog edition. However my main concern was with managing comments. I want users to be only be able to post comments and then someone else will be moderating the comments. However it doesn't work. I have set the appropriate settings in the Version Settings zone as well.
Kindly help please.
Cheers
Arnaud
