Ari Bakker's thoughts on customising and configuring SharePoint

Enhanced Blog Edition Update

with 6 comments

About two months ago we released the first version of the Community Kit for SharePoint Enhanced Blog Edition (CKS:EBE). Although this was recommended for evaluation purposes only, it is great to see that several people have successfully managed to create their own themes and are using this on their production blogs.

One of the key features of this release was the ‘modular theme framework’ that makes it easy for people to create custom skins for their blog. The feedback on this has been great – while customising the default blog site template can be a slow and painful process, I have had feedback from several people that the framework has made it quick and easy to implement custom blog skins. Here are some examples of what people are doing:

Zac Smith

Liam Cleary

We are currently working on the next release, due out next month, which will include trackback support, bug fixes and other functionality. More information on this will be added to the CKS CodePlex site when it becomes available.

  1. Hi Ari. I see you've been getting spammed on here. 😉

    Anyway, only the link to Liam Cleary's site is working. The updated link to the engine room is http://theengineroom.provoke.co.nz/default.aspx.
    Zac Smith's blog is now located at http://www.trinkit.co.nz/blog/default.aspx.

  3. Hi,
    CKS:EBE is really a cool tool. But I just want to clear one thing. Various skins that are already integrated with this tool, contains some informations in the header and footer part (e.g. published by and CKS:EBE deatils). Is it possible to customize that? Can I change those informations and put some details about my blog in the header part?

  5. Hi,
    The Archives in my CKS:EBE Blog seems to be not in correct order. It comes randomly although I want it to come in descending order of publish date in my blog, same as for eg. in your blog.
    How do I do that?

  6. Hi Ritzi, I’ve done this by putting an XSL ‘sort’ clause on the list of archive months. Specifically for the Wildlife theme have a look at the ‘MonthCount.xml’ file and add the following line after the ‘<xsl:apply-templates select=”rows/row…”>’ line:

    <xsl:sort select=”PublishedDate” order=”descending”/>

    This should order the months in descending date order. For more info on XSL sort check out http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/el_sort.asp
